What’s special about this fiber?
Mink is among the finest fibers in the world, and is rather rare. Very little is produced every year and is brushed out as it sheds several times a year. Like angora, it creates a halo when spun into yarn but the halo is of softer fibers and feels almost velvety. It dyes beautifully and takes on rich jewel tones.
In the past, mink were used to make fur coats, which isn’t kind since the animal was killed.
Mink top lets both us humans and the mink benefit. The mink lead their lives while we get to enjoy the luxurious softness of their fiber.
