What’s special about this fiber?
This is our main in house specialty top. We chose Rambouillet for several reasons. First its 3D crimp helps add a lot in fiber blends, and just a little Rambouillet goes a long way! It can help add cohesion, to help fibers blend more easily and be easy to spin. It also adds elasticity, which helps in durability and performance. And second, we could get extremely high quality Rambouillet from American sources.
The sheep who grow it live life on the range, grazing on grasses and plants and living how sheep are supposed to. Then they’re shorn and their wool is classed, sorted and baled. After baling and classing, its core tested to ensure quality and uniformity. Then its scoured at a commercial scouring facility in America. And finally it arrives at our mill in Maine where we make it into top.
