Why blend these fibers?
There’s a certain beauty in taking a simple thing and perfecting it. Merino is very commonly blended with silk, since merino’s crimp and silk’s softness complement each other very well. Combined they form a top that’s both lustrous and elastic.
What can it do?
Perfect for spinning, needle or wet felting, or dyeing.
Ideal for next to skin garments.
How does it feel?
The merino and silk are perfectly balanced so the top essentially spins itself. The silk add some slickness which could make it challenging for someone who’s new to spinning.
Suggested spinning level
18.5um merino from South Africa, New Zealand or Australia
Mulberry silk from China
